2020-2021 Fundraising Wrap Up

Brooks Foundation Supporters!

Thank you so much for all of your support during a most unconventional year. This email comes to you as a year-end wrap up to showcase the final gift the Foundation was able to provide Brooks Elementary to support the 2021-2022 School Year.

The final gift to Brooks amounted to $89,684. This was a combination of carry-over monies from spring 2020 and all 2020/21 carry-over of $74,684 plus a new money donation of $15,000. Due to covid restrictions, the Foundation was fortunate to have a large pool of carry-over monies to help fund the positions for the 2021-22 school year.

Please be aware, this large carry-over will NOT be available for the 2022-2023 school year, so fundraising this school year is CRUCIAL to keep these Foundation-funded positions at Brooks.

What will these funds cover?

We are pleased to announce that the Foundation funding is going to be used to fund 2 Instructional Assistants. Each IA will work 24 hours a week, IAs will work with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students during the instructional part of their day. The funds will also cover 1 Enrichment Tutor working 28 hours per week.

We are so happy to have 3 Foundation-Funded positions for the 2021-2022 School Year. Every single contribution made during this hard year has contributed to the support of every student at Brooks Elementary.

We are also very excited to share an update about Ms. Certa-Moore. Ms. Certa-Moore is a retired Brooks staff member who loves serving our students and staff through support with coached projects and magnet integration. After retiring and taking a few years off, Ms. Certa-Moore came back during the 2019 - 2020 school year to serve as a Foundation funded magnet tutor. Serving in this capacity reminded her of how much she missed working with the Brooks community and because of this, she is transitioning into a 30% magnet position for the upcoming school year. We are so excited for her transition from a Foundation funded position to a Wake Co funded position, and we believe this is a true testament to how vital the Foundation’s role is in serving both our school and our district.

Thank you again for all of your support, and we look forward to a successful 2021-2022 school year!
